Sorry dudes, he's taken...Hey gang! Just checking in so you don't think we collected all of your money and bailed on you. Things have been a little busy here at Camp HandMe Downs. Sorry dudes (and lady dudes too I guess?) but our little Bobby Rad went and got married the other day! So congrats Bob and Tina. Back to business: We are scheduled to hit the studio again to track vocals next week. So expect a few more studio updates from those sessions. This record is going to be rad! Also we are working on your rewards packages for the donators from our Kickstarter campaign, hopefully you guys dig everything! Check out the Thank You page to see who we owe our eternal gratitude to.
We are making a few changes to the site as well, a few small ones have already been made but as the record release gets closer there should be quite a few more. Please bear with us through all the calamity that comes with balancing making a killer record, real life, and band members living in different time zones. Holy Shit! Part Deux!
We did it! We want to sincerely thank every last one of you who donated, reposted, and/or even gave a shit about our kickstarter. We not only hit the goal but surpassed it when we were down to the wire. I'll admit, things were looking bleak but you guys pulled it out and helped us tremendously! You guys are rad! We will never be able to thank you enough so we will try to do it the only way we can. This album is coming along nicely, it sounds great so far. A few more finishing touches on the guitar and then it's time for vocals and everyones favorite part...gang vocals! We will beging assembling your reward packs soon so hold tight friends!
You are going to get to hear a good selection of the new tunes December 2nd at Small's. I don't know if you heard or not but we have a show coming up with Street Dogs, Off With Their Heads, and Murder The Stout. Needless to say we are stoked! Stay tuned here, facebook, and twitter for further updates about the new record, shows, etc. Thanks again you guys are great! Studio Updates!
In three days we managed to record: ALL of the drum tracks, ALL of the bass tracks, and MOST of the guitar tracks. So far it sounds amazing. We put in some hard work and it is great to see it all coming together. John Kay and Catman over at Stu Stu Studio are great dudes and are really helping us take the right steps to make sure this album comes out the way we want it. We go back in this week to finish off guitars and then it's time for vocals in November.
We are really looking forward to getting these songs out to you guys so we took some subpar videos with our phones during the tracking process. Then we shoddily edited them a little bit and threw em up on youtube in the wee hours of the morning. So check em out and let us know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/hmddetroit Anyways, as you may have noticed, we have all been posting this Kickstarter everywhere because at this point we've come so far along (thanks to some awesome friends and fans) and we have so little time left we really need to make this happen! We have roughly 40% of our goal right now! So if you can spare anything please please PLEASE help us out. Everyone will end up getting something out of the deal if we hit the goal, we owe it to you guys for all of your support throughout the years. To everyone who has been asking when we are coming back to your town. We will be back out on the road once the record is completed and pressed, and the theme of this whole ordeal is: we need your help to make this happen. Trust us we all miss being on the road and we want to party with you too. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thehandmedowns/the-handme-downs-finally-record-a-new-album You guys are the best, you keep us going, and we look forward to seeing you all soon! Holy Shit!
Today we knocked out 11 songs in four and a half hours! Kinda. Drum tracks are done dude! Add that to the foud we already have finished completely and we are up to fifteen tracks for this album so far! Picture and video evidence will be following shortly to prove that we are actually cranking this stuff out! It sounds really good already. Tomorrow (Thursday) we knock out a few more bass parts and hopefully get a start on guitars. It is finally coming together and we are stoked! If you want to be the first to get a copy check out the post below this for our kickstarter project link for more information! You still have a little over a week to help us fund this thing, you won't be let down this album is going to rip!
Can ya spare any change?Hey gang! So we went and did it, we entered the world of beggars because we are poor and we REALLY want to put out this new album! A Kickstarter campaign has been launched trying to raise part of the funds to finally start this up. We are only asking for a small fraction of what the finished project will end up costing but we threw in some incentives for you guys. We go into the studio the first week of October to start recording "Light's Out!" our second full length album. We couldn't be more excited for you guys to hear these songs, and we hope you guys are excited too. Excited enough to help us make this thing a reality! So check out the page, spread the word to everyone you know, and help out if you can! You guys are awesome, thanks in advance!
You guys are pretty rad...The show last week was a blast! Thanks to everyone that came out and partied with us. All the bands were rad, it was awesome getting to see Jukebox out in our neck of the woods but it really made us wanna hit the road ASAP. We should hopefully be getting this album recorded in the next month or 2, I can't wait. Speaking of, what did you guys think of the new tunes we played at Corktown? It felt good to play something new for you guys, hopefully you dug em because they are going on the new record. We seen quite a few pictures and videos being taken at the show and we wanna see em! So if you have any let us know, we are looking to get some footage together for a video and some photos to possibly use in the album artwork.
Another quick question for ya… What do you guys think about bands starting a Kickstarter to help fund the new album? We've been kicking around the idea because we are poor and making a record is expensive. If we go through with it what sort of "Prizes/Rewards/or....compensation?" would you be interested in getting back in exchange for your generosity? Any questions, comments, ideas, concerns, requests, etc. leave em in the comments or shoot us an e-mail or something, hell you probably have one of our phone numbers… Welp that's about it, good chat gang. Hey Detroit Guess What?!So we have a little bit of news for ya. We have a show coming up at the Corktown Tavern in Detroit where we will be test driving quite a few of the new tunes for ya. All of us are really stoked to finally play these songs in front of you guys. Our good pals The Jukebox Romantics are out on a summer long tour right now and they will be there so that is more than enough reason to be there, PLUS SNAFU will be releasing their new EP that night. So get stoked! More info for that show can be found over in the Upcoming Shows section of the ol' site. In other news the new stuff is coming along nicely. Studio time is booked in fairly near future, but it seems like everytime I post it here something happens and we have to push it back. We can't wait to get this record out, believe me it's due.
Bummer dudeHey remember that time we said we were recording in early June? We accidentally lied to you guys, sorry. Real life stuff got in the way and we also lost our practice spot. So we've been trying to find a new place to fine tune these new jams before hitting the studio. It is a pain in the ass but it'll be worth it in the long run, right? We hope so. The new songs are gonna be pretty rad, and they will sound even better. I heard a mix of the new Aggro or Die! album the other day and the sound quality was amazing! So keep your eyes peeled for the release date on that one, and hopefully ours will see the light of day at some point in the near future.
We have a show in the works so keep August 6th clear on your schedules it's gonna be a doozey. Waiting for another confirmation then we'll start posting the rest of the info about it but you might want to call off work the next morning in advance it's gonna be party time. Well that is about all for today. Later on dudes and dudettes! New Stuff! In early June we will be headed into the studio to start tracking the remainder of the new record! We will be going through John Kay who does phenomenal work as heard on our Lights Out! Sampler EP, Koffin Kats "Drunk In The Daylight" and the upcoming Aggro Or Die! record among many other projects. We are stoked to finally be making some progress on this album and we are really looking forward to sharing it with you guys. We also finally got some of the footage from tour sorted out and today we bring you the first batch of all that! This is a live version from SXSW of one of the new tunes! Let us know what you guys think...
We're alive! That was a rough one but we're back. We want to thank everyone who came out to shows, supported us, let us crash, bought merch/booze/food etc. We had quite a few shows cancel on us which was a huge bummer and kinda killed us financially and got morale pretty low at times but we pulled through. Also thanks to all the awesome bands we played with over the past few weeks. Jukebox Romantics, American Pinup, Born To Lose, Say Hello To The Angels, Dead To The World, and the many many more. On top of all the cancellations driving us crazy The Gladiator decided to join in on the fun. Trailer lights went out again in Gainesville and haven't been back on since. Awesome. When that fuse goes so do our dash lights. Oh and if anyone finds our license plate...uhhh e-mail it to us. I'm sure if you get us liquored up you can get some stories out of us but as of right now let's see what is up ahead for us...
So what's next on our agenda? Friday April 1st we are playing in Detroit at the Corktown Tavern with our good buddies St. Thomas Boys Academy. Should be a good time so come on out and party! More info on that show can be found here. Then after that we head back into the studio this May to finally make some progress on this new record. The new songs we've been playing out on the road have been going over well and they are a hell of a lot of fun to play. So keep your ears peeled. |
